What is DLRRD Bursary?
The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) intends to award comprehensive bursaries to qualifying applicants pursuing and/or intending to further their studies in identified careers in Geomatics and Town/Urban and Regional Planning for 2026 academic year. The bursary will cover tuition, accommodation, books, meals, and living allowance. The bursary targets the previously disadvantaged and persons from rural communities. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Closing date for all application is 30th September 2025.
Eligibility of DLRRD Bursary
Fields of study Minimum requirements:
1. BSc: Land Surveying/ Geomatics
2. BSc: Town/Urban and Regional Planning
3. BSc: Geo-informatics/ Geographic Information Science
National Senior Certificate:
Mathematics and Physical Science/Geography: 5 (60 –69)
Fields of study Minimum requirements:
4. Bachelor in Geomatics/Surveying
5. Bachelor in Town/Urban and Regional Planning
National Senior Certificate:
Mathematics and Physical Science 4 (50–59)
Fields of study Minimum requirements:
6. Diploma in Geomatics/Surveying/GIS
7. Diploma in Town/Urban and Regional Planning
National Senior Certificate:
Mathematics and Physical Science 4 (50–59)
8. Postgraduate studies (Advanced Diploma, Honours, Masters and Ph.D.) in DLRRD priority research projects.

How To Apply For DLRRD Bursary?
1. Applicants must be South African citizens.
2. Applicants must complete the online bursary application form available on the website address: www.dlrrd.gov.za (Click on vacancies). Direct link: https://forms.office.com/r/2r1XPrPEJa
3. Applicants who apply for fields of study that are not listed above will not be considered.
4. Please note that communication will be limited to successful applicants only. If you have not received any communication from the department within 14 days after the release of Grade 12 results, consider your application unsuccessful.
5. No late application forms will be considered.
6. Applicants who are not in possession of their University acceptance letter or results can submit their application while waiting for the said documents.
7. The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) reserves the right to determine the total number of bursary allocations for the academic year based on the total budget available.
