How To Apply For Postgraduate Admission in UCT?

Applications for 2027 opened on 1 April 2026. Most postgraduate programmes containing coursework close on 30 September 2026 (exceptions are listed in the 2027 Directions for Postgraduate Applicant whilst research-only programmes remain open until 31 December 2027.

You may apply online. In order to apply online you will need a working email address and your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number.

Application Fees of UCT Postgraduate Admission

An application fee must be paid for every application. UCT students and graduates, as well as Semester Study Abroad (SSA) applicants, are exempt from the application fee unless applying to a Graduate School of Business (GSB) programme.

Application fees should be paid in South African Rands, except when applying for a GSB qualification from outside the SADC region, in which case payment should be in US dollars.

UCT graduates and currently registered UCT students are exempt from paying an application fee, except in the case of GSB qualifications.
