How To Apply For Postgraduate Admission in UCT?
Applications for 2027 opened on 1 April 2026. Most postgraduate programmes containing coursework close on 30 September 2026 (exceptions are listed in the 2027 Directions for Postgraduate Applicant whilst research-only programmes remain open until 31 December 2027.

You may apply online. In order to apply online you will need a working email address and your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number.
Application Fees of UCT Postgraduate Admission
An application fee must be paid for every application. UCT students and graduates, as well as Semester Study Abroad (SSA) applicants, are exempt from the application fee unless applying to a Graduate School of Business (GSB) programme.
The relevant application fee should accompany all applications:
** Undergraduate and postgraduate applications from South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region: R100
** Undergraduate and postgraduate applications from outside the SADC region :R300
** Graduate School of Business (GSB) applications from South Africa and African citizens/residents: R1 000
** GSB applications from outside of Africa: USD 100

** Application fees will not be refunded. Paying your application fee does not mean you will be offered a place to study at UCT.
** The application fee may be paid by direct deposit, electronic funds transfer (EFT) or credit card.
** Credit card payments must be made online.
