What is Astron Energy Bursary?
Astron Energy Bursary is open for students in matric or tertiary, applying to study full-time in 2027. Only for Specific SAQA-registered tertiary qualifications. Average academic performance for the last full academic year must be 70% or higher. Applications are currently open. Applications that are incomplete and that include misrepresentations will immediately be disregarded. Closing date is 26 October 2026.
Who Can Apply For Astron Energy Bursary?
** Applicants must be under 35 years of age.
** Applicants must be South African citizens.
** Applicants must be pursuing a FULL-TIME qualification (Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, Masters, Etc)
** Applicants must be pursuing their qualification-level for the first time (ie, not repeating a degree, honours, etc)
** Applicants must be pursuing a qualification or intending to pursue a qualification at any tertiary institution registered with DHET and SAQA. (This includes private/community colleges and TVETS)
** Average academic performance for the last full academic year must be 70% or higher
Be studying in this stream:
** Engineering: Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical. [Must be BSc or BEng, NOT B-Tech]
** IT: Information Technology and Computer Science
** Finance: Accounting, General Finance and Commerce
** Internal Audit
** Risk Management
** Marketing
** Financial Information Systems
** Data Analytics

** Bursary allocation year for application type: 2027 Astron Energy Bursary will be allocated for the 2027 academic year

All certified documents must be less than 3 months old.
All Applicants:
** Certified copy of a valid South African identity document
** A 1-2 page statement – Motivation for why you should be selected for this bursary
** Recent certified Parents/Guardian SA ID or Death Certificate (or death certificate if deceased) [*]
** A comprehensive CV of work experience and background
Current Tertiary Student (Undergrad/Honours/Masters enrolled in 2026):
** Certified Full Tertiary Academic Records (for all years of tertiary study, even if at multiple institutions) [*] [or police affidavit stating why the student wasn’t schooling]
** Certified copy of latest/June 2026 Official Academic Transcripts (or official institution report) [or police affidavit stating why the student wasn’t schooling]
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** 2026 Official University Fee Statements- If you have off-campus accommodation, please include your lease agreement [*]
** Certified Copy of 2026 Proof of Registration (if studying in 2026) [or police affidavit stating why the student wasn’t schooling]
Scholar in Matric (or gap-year after matric):
** Certified Grade 11 Report final year-end report (with official school stamp)
** Certified Grade 12 Term 2 Report (with official school stamp)
Tertiary Gap Year Student (Enrolled prior to 2027):
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** IF APPLICABLE- Certified copy of the latest Official academic transcript/s [*] [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
Masters & PHD Applicants must submit :
** Recommendation letter by Supervisor (Compulsory for master’s and doctoral applicants)
