What is Services SETA Bursary?

The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) invites bursary applications for the 2017 academic year in the following fields of study :
** All qualifications in the services sector;
** Scarce and critical skills in other sectors;
** Artisanal qualifications in any field or trade

Bursaries are open to :
** Employed and unemployed applicants who are registered towards undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications.
** Applicant who are South African citizens, with a valid identity document

Date :
** The application window will close on 17 March 2017 at 16:00.
** Only online applications will be considered.

Who qualifies for the Service Seta bursary?
** An applicant who is currently registered with a South African higher education institution (TVET Colleges, Public Universities and Universities of Technology)

** Application should be for 2017 academic year
** An applicant who is a South African citizen, with a valid identity document.
** An applicant who is not a recipient of other sources of funding.

Preference may be given to :
** People with disabilities
** Previously disadvantage Individuals
** Scarce and Critical Skills
** Students studying at a public institution

Application process :
** There are a limited number of bursaries for 2017 Academic Year only.
** Applicants should “register” by creating a user name and password on the Create an account tab above.
** The closing date for applications is 17 March 2017

Background :
** Services SETA’s Discretionary Bursary funding is divided between employed and unemployed learners
** Bursaries will be awarded for all qualifications in the Service Sector.
** It is the Services SETA’s intention to ensure that the Bursary allocations are done in line with its strategic plans and related laws and regulations as well all the necessary and relevant policies and procedures.

About Services SETA :
** The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) was established and registered in March 2000 in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998. Services SETA has to ensure that the skill requirements of the services sector are identified and that adequate and appropriate skills are readily available.

** The Services SETA contributes to the improvement of sector skills through achieving a more favourable balance between demand and supply.

** Services SETA aims to provide for the skills development needs of the services sector through the bursary awards amongst others.
** Services SETA bursaries aim to provide opportunities for employed and unemployed learners who are interested in studying towards a qualification in the Services Sector
