Competition Period

2. The competition runs from 29 January 2018 until 28 February 2018 (the “Competition Period”). No entries will be accepted after 16h00 on 28 February 2018.

Who Can Enter

** You are entitled to participate in this competition if
(i) you are a natural person [who is at least 18 years old], who resides in South Africa;

(ii) it is lawful for you to be awarded the prize, and

(iii). You may NOT participate if you are a supplier of goods or services in connection with this competition, or if you are a director, member, partner, employee, agent of, or consultant to Takealot.com or any other entity which directly or indirectly controls or is controlled Takealot.com or if you are any of the aforementioned persons’ spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister or business partner.

How To Enter

** You can enter this competition if, you purchase any academic book on Takealot.com and share it on Facebook, Twitter and/ or Instagram using the hashtag #BACK2VARSITY3 during the competition period. To share participants can either share a product link, image or Takealot.com order number connected to the qualifying purchase.

How many times you can enter :
** You may enter this competition as many times as you like, as long as the purchase and corresponding share was made during the competition period. Participants are allowed to share one qualifying purchase multiple times.

Entry Fees :
** There are no entry fees to participate in the competition, and no additional charges involved in acting as set out in section 4 above.

Prize

** 1 of 5 laptops. Prize laptops may vary in, but not limited to, brand and value and are allocated to weekly winners at Takealot.com’s sole discretion. The prizes are not transferable and may not be exchanged for cash. With regards to Takealot.com Gift Vouchers, Takealot is not responsible for any harm due to the loss, unauthorised use or unauthorised distribution of a Gift Voucher, after Takealot has delivered the Gift Voucher to you, or the email address nominated by you.

Winner :
** One preliminary winner will be chosen and announced every Friday of the competition period, with the last announced on 2 March 2018. Takealot.com will select preliminary winners who have taken the steps set out in section 4 above, and who is in compliance with these rules by way of lucky draw, using the hashtag #BACK2VARSITY3 and validating the lucky share with a qualifying purchase.

** Preliminary winners are drawn and allocated in Takealot.com’s sole discretion. Preliminary winners will be announced on their entry post and we will send them a message to request contact information for purposes of validating them as a winner (the “Participant Information”).

** We will make two direct attempts to obtain such information. Once we have received this information Takealot.com will deliver the prize to the winner in 7 – 14 working days, subject to section 10 below. Proof of identity may be required before or upon delivery.

** Regarding the application of these rules and the selection of a winner in terms hereof, Takealot.com’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into with a competition participant other than the winner.

Winner Validation :
** Validation will include confirming that winners placed a qualifying order (any order that includes at least one academic book) on Takealot.com during the competition period and also shared it during the same period. As well as the completion of a competition release form prior to any prizes being issued.

Disqualification of winner :
There are certain situations in which a winner will be disqualified from receipt of his/her prize, namely:
(i) he/she fails to provide Participant Information within 3 working days of it being requested by Takealot.com for the 2nd time, (ii) he/she is found to have contravened any other rule set out herein; and (iii) upon delivery of the prize, he/she refuses to or cannot provide reasonably sufficient documentation to verify his/her identity. In the event of disqualification of a winner, Takealot.com shall be entitled in its sole discretion to select another winner from amongst the participants as per point 9 above.

General Terms

Use of participant and winner information :
** By participating in this competition, you consent to the use by Takealot.com or a third party nominated by Takealot.com of your Participant Information, so that your name and surname can be announced as a winner and your prize can be delivered to you. The winner may also be asked to permit the use of his/her image in marketing material, to participate in marketing activities, and/or be present when the draw is taking place or the winners are announced, but he/she will be entitled to decline to do so.

Unforeseen events :
** In the event of unforeseen circumstances or causes beyond our reasonable control, we reserve the right to cancel this competition (before entries are received), to change the number or nature of the prize at any time (on 20 business days’ notice to you), or to change the rules at our discretion (provided that we will not change the conditions for participation or conditions for being awarded the prize, as stated herein).
