Full Credit Report

** Your credit report is a complete record of your financial history, detailing information on your borrowing and spending habits, payment trends and contact details. It tracks every account you open, every payment you skip, every judgment taken against you and every cent you owe your creditors.

** Get your full credit report, including your credit score and insights into how you are perceived by credit providers. Your credit report includes: Your personal details, accounts data, dispute info and a credit action plan.

What’s My Score :
** Your score is important because credit providers use it to rate your credit worthiness. It’s calculated using the information on your credit profile, including account information, your payment history, adverse information, public records and enquiries (requests by credit providers to view your credit report).

It is a summary of both positive and negative factors that predicts how likely you are to honour your future credit agreements. Your credit score will however differ at each of the registered South African credit bureaus as they are calculated differently at every institution.

Who do I need to contact to query information on my credit report?
Compuscan’s customer care staff have all the relevant knowledge and skills to assist you in resolving queries on your credit report. If you feel that the information on your credit report is incorrect, please contact Compuscan’s customer care division on 0861 51 41 31. Our help-desk staff will also be able to advise you on how to better manage your credit report in future.

How much does my credit report cost?
According to the National Credit Act (NCA), every consumer has the right to one free credit report per annum. Any additional credit reports will be charged as indicated on the My Credit Check website.

How do I request my credit report?
To request your free annual credit report, please fill in our credit report application form.
Should you have already requested your credit report in the past 12 months, please contact our call centre to apply for your credit report on 0861 51 41 31 or email us at consumercare AT compuscan.co.za.

What should I do if information on my credit report is incorrect?
If any of the information contained in your credit report is incorrect or unfair, you may log a dispute with Compuscan via the website or call centre on 0861 51 41 31. When you contact our call centre, you will be supplied with a Compuscan reference number.

Please allow 20 business days for Compuscan to resolve your dispute or query. During this time Compuscan will contact the supplier of the disputed data for further information and evidence relating to the data. If by the end of the 20 business day period Compuscan does not receive credible evidence from the supplier to support the data, the dispute will be resolved in your favour.

If any of the information is reinstated and you still feel that it is incorrect or unfair or if you are dissatisfied with the outcome of the dispute, please contact the Credit Ombud on 0861 662 837 or at .creditombud.org.za for further assistance, their services are free to consumers.

What documents do I need to provide when logging a dispute?
When you log a dispute you will be required to submit the following to Compuscan :
** A copy of your ID
** Your reason for logging the dispute
** If you are disputing a judgment or admin order, we will need a rescission document

Can I be blacklisted at a credit bureau?
There is no such thing as a blacklist at a credit bureau.
Credit bureaus sort and hold both positive and negative information and provide information about your credit history and activities. The majority of the information held by Compuscan is in fact positive and will assist you in obtaining credit.

The sole decision to grant credit lies with each individual credit provider. Credit providers make the decision whether or not to grant you credit by assessing and looking at all the information they get from Compuscan.
