e-uMhlathuze FAQs

1. What is e-uMhlathuze?
** e-uMhlathuze is a free, simple and secure way of interacting with your bills from the comfort and convenience of your home or office.
** You can view your various bills, lodge a complaint or query and make payments against the respective bills electronically 24 hours a day!

** You also have a full history of all accounts from registration, payments made by using the e-uMhlathuze site.

** You can also receive email notifications to inform you of new statements issued for your account and successful payments made through the e-uMhlathuze site.

** You must register to use the service.

2 – What are the benefits of e-uMhlathuze?
** e-uMhlathuze is a free online service for the presentment and payments of bills.
** You can view and pay your bills online from the comfort and convenience of your home or office.
** You can also lodge complaints and queries electronically.

3 – How do I register to use e-uMhlathuze?
** Your City of uMhlathuze Account Number
** Your ID number
** Your personal details
** Your bank account details [optional]

4 – What is the cost for the e-uMhlathuze service?
** While e-uMhlathuze is a free service, please note your bank will still charge you their normal fee for transactions should you make use of our payment options to pay your municipal accounts.**

5 – Can I access any previous municipal accounts?
** e-uMhlathuze will have all accounts from March 2014 and keeps a minimum of five years history of both accounts and payments made via the service.

6 – What measures are in place to ensure the security of information on e-uMhlathuze?
** The e-uMhlathuze team has made every effort to ensure that your personal and business information is protected by using the highest forms of browser security available.

** The site is secured by SSL certificates which ensures the security certificates generated by the site are valid and secure. Every time an e-uMhlathuze user connects to the e-uMhlathuze site, an encrypted and completely secure connection is made between the user’s browser and the e-uMhlathuze server thus, ensuring that your e-uMhlathuze experience is safe and secure.

** When accessing the e-uMhlathuze site, look for the “s” in https:// at the beginning of the e-uMhlathuze web address https://www.e-umhlathuze.co.za/euMhlathuze/ and (on most browsers) the lock symbol will appear in the address bar.

Users need only ensure the address typed in to access the site is the correct website address, and that there is a lock symbol on their browser.

7 – How do I pay my account?
Currently e-uMhlathuze caters for the following methods
** Payment via once off user instruction from any bank (ABSA, FNB, Nedbank, etc.)

** If you are a Standard Bank or Nedbank Customer, you can pay your uMhlathuze bill directly from within Standard Bank or Nedbank Internet Banking. To use this facility, click here for instructions.

** Mobile payments – Use your cellphone to make a payment. Type in your cellphone number to use it together with your linked debit/credit card. If your debit/credit card is not registered, registration will take place on your phone.

Additional payment channels will be added at a later stage.

8 – Can I use my credit card to make payments via the e-uMhlathuze service?
** Credit card payments are currently only supported using the mobile payment facility.

** Currently you can use most South African-issued Master or Visa credit cards and any Standard Bank, ABSA or Nedbank debit or cheque card, as long as it has an ATM PIN.

9 – I am an agent. What facilities are available to me?
You can either register your client as a user under your profile or, if they have already registered, access your clients account and conduct all of the regular functions on your clients behalf

10 – How do I register my clients?
** Once you have registered and been authenticated as an Agent on the service, you can register your clients.

The request for registration will be processed and once the accuracy of information submitted is confirmed, you will be notified via email and thereafter the service will be activated for your client

11 – Will the information held for my clients be secure?
The e-uMhlathuze site deploys the very latest data encryption technologies available. e-uMhlathuze will take all reasonable precautions to keep the personal information disclosed by you secure, if and when such information needs to be passed on to City of uMhlathuze or any of the banking institutions.

12 – Will information held for my clients be accessible to anyone else?
** You, as your clients Agent, may choose to give your client access to their account information. For support purposes, the uMhlathuze Call Centre consultants will have access to your clients personal information. It is your responsibility to ensure your clients are well aware of these details.

** How to add an e-uMhlathuze.co.za icon to your mobile device home screen

Android device :
** Launch the Chrome app
** Go to www.e-uMhlathuze.co.za
** Tap the menu icon (3 dots in upper right-hand corner) and tap Add to home screen
** e-uMhlathuze will be added to your home screen

iPhone or iPad Device :
** Launch the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad
** Go to www.e-uMhlathuze.co.za
** Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing out of it) at the bottom of the screen
** Scroll down to the list of actions and tap Add to Home Screen)
** e-uMhlathuze will be added to your home screen
