NDMC Bursary Application

Looking for a Bursary to Finance Your Studies in 2022? The Department of Cooperative Governance Through the National Disaster Management Centre Offers Funding to Selected Students Who Intend Studying or are Enrolled for an Under-Graduate or Post-Graduate Qualification in Disaster Management Or Related Field at a South African Public Institution of Higher Learning (Excluding Phd Qualification).

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered)

** South African citizen
** Completed Matric
** Studying or accepted to study towards a Disaster Risk Science or Disaster Management qualification (preferably undergraduate studies)
** Studying or accepted to study at a recognised public tertiary institution in South Africa
** Proven financial need

Step 2 : Download and complete the NDMC Bursary Application Form (.pdf)

Step 3 : Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded)

Documents Required

** ID document (certified copy)
** Matric certificate (certified copy)
** Proof of admission or acceptance into a public tertiary institution (on tertiary letterhead)
** Motivational letter explaining why you deserve to be awarded the bursary and your future career ambitions

** Brief Curriculum Vitae
** Proof of income, if employed (latest payslip)
** Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)

** Parents/ guardians proof of income, if you are dependent on them (latest payslips/ affidavit if students does not have one or both parents)
** Proof of residence
** Proof of any other financial support

Allowances

The bursary programme will cover the following
** Tuition including registration
** Learning resources (where applicable, capped at R5 500.00)
** Research allowance (where applicable, capped at R11 000.00)
** Successful students are expected to enter into a bursary contract with DCoG through the NDMC. The agreement contains all general provisions related to the bursary programme.

CLOSING DATE is 05 November 2021. (Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted – please apply before the closing date to ensure your application is considered.)

About Us :
The objective of the National Centre is to promote an integrated and co-ordinated system of disaster management, with special emphasis on prevention and mitigation, by national, provincial and municipal organs of state, statutory functionaries, other role-players involved in disaster management and communities.

The National Centre is also responsible for the administration of the Fire Brigade Services Act, 1987 (Act No 99 of 1987) (FBSA)Within the South African environment, disaster management is a shared responsibility which must be fostered through partnerships between the various stakeholders and co-operative relationships between the different spheres of government, the private sector and civil society.
