What is Mitchell’s Plain Bursary?

The Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust assists with registration and/or tuition fees for studies at tertiary institutions such as Cape Peninsula University of Technology, University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch, University of the Western Cape and Further Education and Training (FET) colleges. The Trust will offer financial assistance to a maximum amount set by the Trust to applicants that have been successfully accepted for further study at a tertiary institution.

Criteria For Application

In order to qualify for consideration for a bursary from the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust, you must:
** Be a Grade 12 learner from one of the 17 high schools in Mitchell’s Plain or be a current recipient of a bursary from the Trust;
** Reside in Mitchell’s Plain;
** Be academically and financially deserving;
** Have a letter of support from your school principal to apply for the bursary
** Meet the deadline of 30 September 2020 for completed applications.

To Apply For Mitchell’s Plain Bursary, Follow the below steps

Steps To Take:
1. Decide on your study options
2. Pass with the required subjects and marks
3. Apply to tertiary institutions
4. Apply for a bursary
** read the requirements and conditions
** make sure you meet these requirements
** submit all documents and results required
** get and upload a letter of support from your school principal
** apply online and supply all required information
5. Meet the deadline for submission

Documents Required For Mitchell’s Plain Bursary

Document checklist (all applicants):
** A copy of applicant’s ID document
** Parent(s)/guardian’s proof of income; if none please include a sworn affidavit stating this
** If parent(s) are deceased, please include death certificate or sworn affidavit
** Proof of residence (rates/account bill addressed to parent/guardian or sworn affidavit)

Document checklist (new applicants):
** Grade 11 exam results
** Grade 12 June and September exam results
** A copy of the receipt for application submitted to the relevant tertiary institution
** Letter of support from school principal
** Letter of motivation by applicant

Selection Process of Mitchell’s Plain Bursary

** Apply for the bursary online with all the necessary information and the recommendation from your school
** The Trust will review your application and may require you to attend an interview
** You will be notified of a conditional acceptance based on your September results and application
** You will be required to submit your matric results AND a letter to show that you are accepted at a tertiary institution
** You will be notified of your final acceptance onto the bursary programme
** Your bursary will be paid directly to the institution at which you are studying
