What is MQA Employed Bursary?

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) would like to invite persons who are Currently employed within the mining and minerals sector and who would like to pursue studies for a qualification relevant to the mining related sector to apply for an MQA bursary for the 2024 academic year of study. The bursary is not available to applicants presently on an MQA funded Internship Programme or a Work Experience (P1/P2) Programme as this maybe considered as “double dipping”. Last date of application is 1st October 2023.

Who Can Apply For MQA Employed Bursary?

Persons who are CURRENTLY employed within the mining and minerals sector and who would like to pursue studies for a qualification relevant to the mining related sector to apply for an MQA bursary for the 2024 academic year of study.

How To Apply For MQA Employed Bursary?

** This application form must ONLY be completed by applicants who are PRESENTLY employed within the Mining and Minerals Sector.
** Unemployed applicants must complete the Application Form for Unemployed Bursars, which can be downloaded from the MQA website. The application will be disqualified if you complete the wrong application form.
** The Employed Bursary is not available for applicants on a structured Internship Programme or Work Experience (P1/P2) Programme. These programmes are not considered as employment for the purpose of this bursary.
** The bursary is ONLY available to Historically Disadvantage Individuals.

** The completed application form and supporting documents must be submitted to bursaries@mqa.org.za.
** Only applications received at the above mentioned by e-mail address will be considered.
** Please note that communication will be limited to successful applicants only.
** If you have not received any communication from MQA by 30 November 2023, then please consider your application as being unsuccessful.

Documents Required For MQA Employed Bursary

1. Certified copy of a valid South African Identity Document.
2. Full Academic Record – (if applicable).
3. Acceptance letter from a university or university of technology (if applicable).
4. Letter of consent from employer to engage MQA bursary scheme (on company letterhead and signed by immediate Supervisor (Very important).
** Only provide the documents requested above.
** Certified copies must not be older than 3 months.
** All supporting documents must be appropriately named.
