What is Canyon Coal Bursary?

Canyon Coal (Pty) Ltd invites students who are interested in joining the Mining Industry to apply for our External Bursary Scheme.Students already at tertiary institutions must have obtained an average of 65% and above in all major subjects can apply. Bursaries will cover full tuition, accommodation and book allowances. Last date of application is 30th January 2024.

Who Can Apply For Canyon Coal Bursary?

External Bursary Scheme in the study fields mentioned below:
** Mining Engineering x1;
** Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering x1;
** B.Sc Mine Survey x1;

Requirements:
** A valid South African identity document (SA Citizen)
** Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
** Provisional acceptance from a university
** Students already at tertiary institutions must have obtained an average of 65% and above in all major subjects

Preference Given To:
** Previously disadvantaged individuals from the Host community.
** Financially disadvantaged
** Applicants who have applied to study at their local tertiary institutions
** People with disabilities and females

Note:
Bursaries will cover full tuition, accommodation and book allowances.

How To Apply For Canyon Coal Bursary?

** The following documentation must accompany the application form: proof of residence, certified ID copy, certified copy of matric results, certified copies of tertiary academic records including most recent results.
** Completed application forms with the required documentation must be e-mailed to bekezela.slp@canyoncoal.com
** Should you not receive correspondence from Canyon Coal (Pty) Ltd within 14 days from the closing date, please accept that your application has been unsuccessful.

Guidelines For Proof of Income:
Applicants for Canyon Coal bursaries must attach proof of family income to the application forms.
** Parents/guardians must attach the most recent payslip not older than six (6) months or an official company letter confirming their income.
** Unemployed parents/guardians must attach official confirmation regarding temporary income.
** Unemployed parents/ guardians must attach official confirmation regarding temporary income.
** Copies of parents/ guardian’s identity documents should also be attached to the application form.

Guidelines For Salary Advices:
** Salary advices should not be older than six months.
** Confirm payment period i.e. weekly /fortnight/ monthly.

Pensioners:
** Copies of the pension advice from social welfare must be submitted.
** The pension advice should not be older than six months.
** In case where the pensioner does not receive a pension advice, an affidavit from the department of Social Services must be provided.

Self-Employed / Business Owners:
** The latest official income statement must be provided.
** The latest tax clearance certificate must be provided
