Eligibility And Conditions :
** Available to school-leavers who will enter upon a first degree course majoring in English, in the year following their application.
** Tenable at any South African University/Teachers Training College.
** Applicants must be a citizen of, and resident in, South Africa. Candidates will be selected on matric symbols (or provisional matric results), motivation and the field of study.

WJB Slater Postgraduate Scholarship :
Value : P.A R10 000
Discipline : Arts
Tenure : 1 Year (given academic progress)
** For postgraduate study in the performing Arts, Ballet, Speech and Drama, Music and Fine Art Candidates will be selected on academic merit, qualities of character, motivation and field of study.
** Applicants must be a citizen of, and resident in, South Africa.
** No other bursary, scholarship or paid appointment may be held without the agreement of the Foundation.
** For postgraduate study in English or related fields.
** Preference is given to Honours course students.

Louis Lochnee Bayne Bursary :
Discipline : Arts or Humanities
Value : R30 000
Tenure : 2 or 3 Years (given academic progress)
** Available to students entering their second year at Rhodes, Cape Town, Natal or Witwatersrand Universities.
** The award is based on aptitude and academic ability and financial need.
** Candidates will be selected from an invitation to the Universities to identify and recommend a student who meets the required criteria,together with a written application from the student and final first year results.
