What is DRDAR External Bursary?

The Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) invite applications from unemployed youth with Grade 12/ Matric/NCV with any combination of subjects that includes Mathematics and Physical Science, who are interested to study in the field of study listed below/ Learners who are currently studying towards the Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering/ Bio-Resource Engineering. Last date of application is 24th January 2025.

Requirements of DRDAR External Bursary

** Applicants must be South African citizens. Preference will be given to Eastern Cape unemployed youth residents, from designated groups.
** Less than 3 months old proof of residence from local municipality should accompany the application.
** Applicants must provide proof of admission/ provisional admission/ proof of registration from a registered Higher Education Institution.
** For financial assistance eligibility, the applicant must demonstrate that his/her family combined annual household income is R350 000.00, or less/ a combined annual household income of R600 000.00 or less for applicants with disabilities.
** Proof/s of income and /or an affidavit on family financial status and a copy of parent/s or guardian’s identity document.
** Applicants must also indicate if they are sponsored by another organization and provide proof thereof.
** Successful applicants should be prepared to work/ serve the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform as part of their contractual obligation, for a period equivalent to their funded study time.

** Incomplete applications will not be considered
** No faxed or hand delivered applications will be considered
** Youth with disabilities are encouraged to apply
** The recruitment is targeting the cohort for 2025 academic year and no historical debt will be covered.
** The bursary will only cover costs for registration, tuition, accommodation, meals and prescribed textbooks only.
