What is VWGA Bursary?

Volkswagen Group Africa “VWGA” is committed to addressing the skills shortage in our country and supports the skills development of our youth. VWGA will be offering a limited number of comprehensive bursaries to qualifying candidates, studying towards a qualification at a formal accredited tertiary institution in South Africa. VWGA Bursary is for 2026 Full-time University Students. Anyone who applied in 2025 for the bursary, will need to apply again for the 2026 opportunity. Applications are currently open. Closing date is Friday, 19th September 2025.

Who Can Apply For VWGA Bursary?

The bursary programme will be aimed at candidates who meet the following criteria:
** All students registered for full-time studies at any DHET/CHE accredited tertiary Institution, in 2026.
** This opportunity IS NOT OPEN TO Masters/Doctoral students.
** South African Citizen

Students registering/registered as 2026 full time undergrad students may apply in the following fields of study:
** Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering; Computer; Electrical Engineering; Industrial Engineering;
** Marketing / BCom Marketing / Digital Marketing / Marketing and Communication;
** Quality / Polymer Technology;
** Logistics / Supply Chain Management / BCom Logistics and Transport
** Finance / BCom Finance / Bachelor of Accounting Science;
** BCom Strategy Development / Strategy Management;

Academic performance:
** Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 70%
** Tertiary level: A minimum average of 65%

** Depending on application stage, candidates may be required to undergo screening, shortlisting, interview, and psychometric assessments.
** Preference will be given to applicants from Designated Groups, in line with VWGA’s Transformation objectives and Employment Equity Plan.

** Closing date for application type: 2026 VWGA (Full Time Students) closes: Friday, 19 September 2025 at 2 pm.
** Bursary allocation year for application type: 2026 VWGA (Full Time Students) will be allocated for the 2026 academic year
** This Bursary is for the 2026 academic year. You need to be studying full-time in 2026 to qualify.
** Should you not have heard back from us by 28 November 2025, please consider your application as unsuccessful.

Documents Required For VWGA Bursary

Please prepare the following documents:

All Applicants:
** Certified copy of a valid South African identity document
** A 1-2 page statement – Motivation for why you should be selected for this bursary
** Recent certified Parents/Guardian SA ID or Death Certificate
** A comprehensive CV of work experience and background

Undergrad Student (in 2025 & prior):
** Certified Full Tertiary Academic Records (for all years of tertiary study, even if at multiple institutions) [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
** Certified copy of latest/June 2025 Official Academic Transcripts (or official institution report) [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** 2025 Official University Fee Statements- If you have off-campus accommodation, please include your lease agreement
** Certified Copy of 2025 Proof of Registration (if studying in 2025) [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]

Scholar in Matric:
** Certified Grade 11 Report final year-end report (with official school stamp)
** Certified Grade 12 Term 2 Report (with official school stamp)
** A copy of 2026 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. – Official letter showing were accepted (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2026

Gap Year Student:
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** IF APPLICABLE- Certified copy of the latest Official academic transcript/s [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]

Other Optional Documents (for all applicants):
** IF APPLICABLE- Did you get funded by another bursary/NSFAS?; upload your bursary agreement/letter/offer
** IF APPLICABLE- If Applicant is disabled? Submit Dept. of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form AND a Diagnosis Letter by Doctor
** IF APPLICABLE- A copy of 2026 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. – An official letter showing acceptance (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2026
