How To Check NSC Exam Result?

The 2025 National Senior Certificate examinations will conclude on 27 November 2025 and the Minister of Basic Education, Ms Siviwe Gwarube, will announce the outcome of the examinations on 12 January 2026.

Results will be released to candidates on 13 January 2026. Some results may not be available because of technical issues. To check the National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination 2026, Follow the below steps

Steps:
Step-1 : Go to the link https://www.education.gov.za/MatricResults/ExamResults/tabid/175/Default.aspx
Step-2 : Enter your Exam Number in the space provided and
Step-3 : Click On “Search” Button.

Note:
** Candidates are urged to get their statements of results from their school/centre where they wrote the exams. Candidates’ results will also be available on this website from 6am on 13 January 2026.
** Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.
** Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the Department before 20 February 2026.
** The results that are reflected on this website are the results of the candidates that registered for the Senior Certificate (SC).
** The results of candidates that registered for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) will be available at the examination centre where they wrote.
** The Statement of Results for all candidates will be available as per the dates listed below, at the school/examination centre where the candidate wrote the examination.
** Some candidate’s results may be excluded from the results published on this website because of technical reasons.
** If a candidate’s results are not on the website, the candidate should please enquire at the centre where they wrote or the district/provincial office.
** Senior Certificate candidates can only rewrite their examination in May/June 2026.
** National Senior Certificate (NSC) candidates can register for the October/November 2025 examination, at the nearest District Office, if you have not already done so.
** The closing dates for registration of NSC candidates who wrote the May/June examination is 21 August 2025. The registration requirements are on the reverse side of your Statement of Results.

Re-Mark/Re-Check of Exam Script

A candidate may apply at the prescribed fee for the re-mark/re-check of his/her examination scripts. Registration can be done at either the school or district office in the province or online at www.eservices.gov.za (all instructions appear on the reverse side of the Statement of Results). Opening date for applications is 13 January 2026, and the closing date for applications is 27 January 2026 for both manual applications and online applications.

Fees for re-marking and re-checking per subject:
Re-mark : R120.00
Re-check : R30.00

Viewing of scripts may only be done after a re-mark or re-check of results. The closing date for applications is 7 days after release of re-mark or re-check results. The fee for viewing is R230.00. Results of remarking will be released from 13 March 2026 and will be available at the school/exam centre where the candidate sat for their 2025 examinations.

June NSC Exams

The supplementary examination in February/March has been phased out and is therefore no longer available. A new examination is available during May/June where candidates can improve their results or complete outstanding results. The closing date for application for 2026 is 6 February 2026.

Conditions For Entry:
** Candidates can only register for subjects which they were registered for in any previous November examination.
** Candidates who were absent with a valid reason (medical unfit, death in the immediate family or other special reasons*) from one or more external question papers, may register for the NSC June examination, provided they have valid external paper marks (PAT, Oral and SBA).
** Any NSC candidate (who wrote exams from 2008 November onwards) who wants to improve their overall achievement status, or only wants to improve the achievement of a subject, may register for the NSC June examination.
** In the case where a candidate was absent for one or more papers in the November exam with a valid reason, the candidate has to write all the papers for the registered subject(s).
** In a case where an irregularity is being investigated, provisional enrolment for NSC June examination may be granted to the candidate concerned, pending the outcome of the investigation.
** Candidates who did not write or complete one or more of the NSC November examination question papers for reasons other than illness/injury or death in the family, may also apply to write the NSC June examination, provided they have valid external paper marks (PAT, Oral and SBA).
** Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.

What can I do if I do not qualify to write the June NSC examination?
Candidates, who do not qualify to write the June NSC examination, have the following options:
** Re-enrol for the NSC as a full-time repeater candidate at a school without delay, provided that the candidate is younger than 21 years of age. Candidates need to enrol for 7 subjects(including Life Orientation) and have to comply with all SBA requirements.
** Register as a part-time repeater candidate at a Public Adult Education Centre.
** Register for the Senior Certificate (SC) examination which is a school leaving qualification for adults and out-of school learners who are above 21 years of age.
** Alternatively, candidates that were not successful in their examinations could consider vocational education and training. There are 50 Public Further Education and Training (FET) colleges across all provinces of South Africa comprising over 300 campuses or teaching sites.
