About Economic Freedom Fighters Party

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is a radical, Marxist, Leninist, and Fanonian movement founded in 2013. Born out of the urgent need to confront the unfinished struggle for true liberation in South Africa, the EFF represents the aspirations of the poor, the working class, and the dispossessed.

The movement draws ideological inspiration from the struggles of the African continent and the Global South, guided by principles of pan-Africanism, socialism, and economic freedom in our lifetime.

Since its establishment, the EFF has grown into a formidable political force, both in the legislature and on the ground. At the core of the EFF’s program are the Seven Cardinal Pillars, which serve as a revolutionary blueprint for achieving economic emancipation:

1. Expropriation of South Africa’s land without compensation for equitable redistribution in use.

2. Nationalisation of mines, banks, and other strategic sectors of the economy, without compensation.

3. Building state and government capacity, which will lead to the abolishment of tenders.

4. Free quality education, healthcare, housing, and sanitation for all.

5. Massive protected industrial development to create millions of sustainable jobs including Introduction of minimum wages in order to close the wage gap between the rich and the poor.

6. Massive development of the African economy and advocating for a move from reconciliation to justice in the entire continent.

7. Open, accountable government and society without fear of victimisation by state agencies.

The EFF remains committed to the total liberation of African people from economic exclusion and exploitation. Through revolutionary activism, legislative intervention, and mass mobilisation, the movement continues to fight for a South Africa, and a continent that is free, equal, and prosperous.
