About United Africans Transformation (UAT)

The apartheid system in South Africa, which involved institutionalized racial segregation, existed from 1948 until the early 1990s. It deprived non-white South Africans of basic human rights, such as the right to vote, and was characterized by an authoritarian political culture that ensured the dominance of the country’s minority white population.

According to this system, white citizens had the highest status, followed by Indians and Coloureds, then black Africans. The economic and social effects of apartheid continue to be felt to this day.

The historic April 1994 election placed the current ruling party (since 1994) in charge of leading the process of reconstruction and development aimed at eradicating poverty and inequality created by apartheid and creating a just and equitable economic and social order. Unfortunately, the ruling party has failed to meet the mandate of the majority of South African citizens. As a result, it has regressed on the political gains achieved after the 1994 political dispensation.

We have witnessed the destruction of our economy by the ruling party, the highest level of youth unemployment, regular service delivery protests, Covid-19 procurement funds looting, the July 2021 economic lootings in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng Provinces, corruption and looting of state resources exposed by the Zondo Commission (State Capture Report), the President’s Phala-Phala foreign currency scandal, the sale of SAA to the private sector, and perpetual load shedding by Eskom that disrupts the economy and basic services.

These issues, along with former Eskom CEO corruption claims, are enough to convince us that the government must be taken out of the hands of the ruling elite before the country collapses. We share the same sentiment as the majority of South African citizens about the frustrations of the ruling party taking a deliberate wrong turn and going off track repeatedly for nearly 30 years.

We strongly believe and are convinced that South Africans are prepared and willing to elect a government grounded in true African values, such as humility, respect, and excellence, to serve them effectively and efficiently.
