About United Independent Movement

The United Independent Movement (UIM) began as a civil society movement founded by Neil De Beer in 2020. Originally conceived as a simple politically driven initiative for the people, it quickly evolved into something much greater, resonating with many South Africans. The movement gained significant momentum and widespread support, leading many to view the UIM as a potential key player in shaping South Africa’s uncertain future and driving the much-needed change.

During a national tour across the country, Neil De Beer and Jacques Taljaard made the strategic decision to transition the movement into an official political party. This step was taken in order to contest elections and represent the people of South Africa directly in government. Consequently, on 2 August 2021, the UIM was formally registered as a political party.

The United Independent Movement (UIM) has earned a reputation as a party unafraid to confront difficult truths, addressing challenges directly and holding accountable those who consider themselves beyond reproach. The party remains deeply committed to the well-being and prosperity of the South African people.

The UIM’s mission is to bridge the divide between government and citizens, with the aim of transforming South Africa into a center of excellence characterized by world-class service delivery. It positions itself as a long-term investment in the country’s future, consistently prioritising the interests of South Africans.

A fundamental objective of the party is to educate citizens on their inalienable rights, empowering them to actively participate in shaping the nation’s future and to prevent abuses of state power. The UIM insists on nothing less than the highest standards of governance and service, advocating for full and equal access to essential services and amenities, thereby enabling all citizens to benefit equitably from the nation’s prosperity and improved quality of life.
