What is Capitec External Bursary?
Capitec External Bursary is for the 2027 academic year. You need to be studying full-time in 2027 to qualify. Applications are currently open. You’ll receive the funding and support you need to focus on what matters most – your studies while gaining workplace exposure and staying connected to a business that’s all about growth and innovation. And once you’ve completed your qualification, you’ll gain workplace readiness skills to help you transition confidently from campus to career. Closing date is 12th August 2026.
Eligibility of Capitec External Bursary
We are seeking students who are passionate, exhibit learning agility, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have a visionary mindset. The Capitec Bursary Programme aims to support students pursuing studies in fields that are critical to the future of banking and financial services. Our goal is to nurture talent that will drive innovative solutions and make a positive impact on the industry. By joining our programme, you will let Capitec be your partner in achieving your academic and professional aspirations.
The bursary programme will be aimed at candidates who meet the following criteria:
1. South African Citizen
2. Aged 27 or younger on 31 December 2026.
3. This bursary also allows applicants that are 2025 matric students; or on a gap-year after matric in 2024.
4. All students registered for full-time studies at any DHET/CHE registered tertiary Institution (university, college, Private Colleges, etc), in 2025.
5. For the following NQF-7 (or higher) qualifications: Bachelors Degree/Honours
This opportunity is NOT open to:
** These qualification levels: N4/5/6, Higher Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Masters or Doctoral students.
** Students at these institution types: TVETs, Community Colleges, Graduate/Business School, or Distance-learning Student (UNISA, etc)
Academic performance:
** Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 65% (or above)
** Tertiary level: Academic performance-average of 65% (or above) for the latest full academic-years (2024 and 2025 so far).
Students registered as (first, second or third/final) year students in the following fields of study:
** Actuarial Science,
** Computer Science,
** Information Systems,
** Information Technology,
** Digital Marketing,
** Economics, Finance,
** Mathematics,
** Quantitative Management, and
** Statistics
6. Depending on application stage, candidates may be required to undergo screening, shortlisting, interview, and psychometric assessments.

** Proof of Household Income: Certified copy of SASSA docs or 3 months Payslips of parents/guardians (Company registration documents if Self Employed) – Please attach police affidavits confirming unemployment, if guardian/s are unemployed
** Do you (or did you) get funded by NSFAS? Please upload all the funding confirmation contracts, letters or offers. [If not, submit police affidavit stating that you have never received NSFAS funding]
