What is Emalahleni Local Municipality External Bursary?

Emalahleni Local Municipality offers an External Bursary Scheme to qualifying first time applicants, aged 18 – 35, from historically disadvantaged backgrounds who reside within the municipality’s jurisdiction. The bursary supports deserving and qualifying students wishing to undertake full-time undergraduate studies at any Public South African University or FET College. Last date of application is 27th November 2026.

Eligibility of Emalahleni Local Municipality External Bursary

** Only South African Citizens residing within the jurisdiction Emalahleni Local Municipality who intend on pursuing undergraduate studies at a Public Institution of Higher learning are legible to apply.
** The applicant must have proven financial need as determined by the household threshold.
** Qualifying applicants will be expected to enter into agreement with the Emalahleni Local Municipality.
** Applicants should be between the ages of 18 to 35 years.

Study Fields :
The following qualifications will be prioritized:
Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Analytical Chemistry, Horticulture, Microbiology, Environmental Management, Law, Water and Sanitation, Disaster Management, IT (Software Development), Finance, Architecture, Social Science and Developmental Studies.
