IJR Project Leader – Social Dialogues in Agriculture

** The IJR has an opening for a Project Leader to join the Sustained Dialogue (SD) Programme at its Cape Town based office.
** The Project Leader will report to the HOD.

Programme :
** The Sustained Dialogues Programme works to acknowledge, confront and engage – through dialogue – enduring legacies that continue to marginalize, wound and cause injustice.
** Using innovative and creative methodologies, SD works to overcome these barriers through meaningful initiatives to foster and sustain reconciliation within and between individuals and communities.

Key Performance Areas :
Agriculture :
** Identify and manage a community dialogue panel in various towns in the Western Cape
** Identify and manage facilitation and mediation training in various towns in the Western Cape and the implementation of community dialogues and community interventions.
** Manage the facilitation of social dialogues when and where necessary in towns where a dialogue panel is established.
** Research and document new and relevant data on social dialogue in agriculture.

Project management :
** Effective project management is what will help the team deliver on its commitments and provide exceptional service and support to the programme areas.
** Actively participate in the development and implementation of the overall programme strategy as well as the general IJR strategy

** Hands on management and responsibility for all aspects of the project
** Produce quarterly and annual reports for the Project
** Annual report and work plans
** Quarterly and semester reports

** Monthly reports to the Department of Agriculture
** Event/ intervention and travel reports
** Identify opportunities for cross-programme collaboration within IJR

Finance Management :
** Ensure that all processes are documented and that you are able to substantiate and account for all payments made
** Programme activities support the programme budget;

** Familiar with Finance, Administration and Procurement procedures and ensure that these are consistently adhered to
** Manage project and/line item specific budgets
** Provide input in budget development and management for the project

Monitoring and Evaluation :
** IJR Building an Inclusive Society to report against M&E Building an Inclusive Society indicators.
** Help improve how data is collected for the M&E indicators as well as identify any other impact indicators that can be used

** Develop M&E Indicators for the your project in consultation with Programme staff and ensure that M&E data is collated and reported on using the organisations M&E system.
** Ensure M&E data and information is captured according to IJR’s systems and tools
** Knowledge & Information Management and Fundraising

Requirements :
** Recognised degree in Peacebuilding, Mediation, Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities
** 3-5 years working experience

Work-related knowledge :
** Understanding of social dialogue platforms and peacebuilding
** Computer Literacy skills (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint)
** Background in administrative procedures / experience working in an office environment

Skills and abilities :
** Good communication skills
** Decision-making and problem solving skills
** Good writing skills in English
** Can write professional reports and proposals

Personal attributes :
** Confident, assertive communicator who can work comfortably with diverse groups of people and across all levels;
** Excellent writing skills in English and another SA language;
** Attention to detail;
** Able to prioritise work and manage deadlines;

** Innovative and creative, able to see new opportunities
** Planning and time management – meets deadlines
** Reflective and open to learning

Job specific requirements :
** Drivers license
** Fluent in a South African language other than home language (preferable Afrikaans and/or Xhosa)
