How do I apply :
Steps to follow when completing the bursary application form :
New User :
** Click on register.
** Select Undergraduate, Postgraduate or University of Technology
** Undergraduate = students applying for a bursary for first four years of degree.
** Postgraduate = students applying for bursary to study for a masters or doctorate degree.

NOTE : You will not be able to register for Postgraduate if you select Undergraduate and vice versa.
** Supply required information.
** Read Disclaimer.
** Accept Disclaimer to proceed.
** The introduction screen will appear, with the application form in the bottom part of the left navigation bar.

Previously Registered :
** Click on login.
** Supply login information.
** The introduction screen will appear, with the application form in the bottom part of the left navigation bar.

Forgot Password :
** Previously registered user forgot password.
** Click on request new password.
** Supply ID Number and email address you registered with.
** New password will be e-mailed to original registered e-mail address.
** Once you receive your password via e-mail, continue with login process.

Submit Application Form :
** Only once you have completed all required information, will you be allowed to submit your bursary application.
** A new section within the left navigation bar will appear “submit application form” .
** Complete the process.

How do I Qualify :
Who can apply?
Grade 12 learners must have achieved the following marks in :
BEng and BSc :

What criteria must I meet to be able to apply for a bursary?
All individuals writing matric after 2007 must meet the following criteria :
** Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid ID number.
** A minimum of a Level 4 for English First Language or a Level 5 for English Second Language in Grade 11.

** A minimum of a level 7 for Mathematics and a minimum of a level 6 in Physical Science in Grade 11 if you are applying for a bursary in one of the Engineering or Science fields.
** A minimum of a level 6 in Mathematics if applying for a B com Accounting/ Business Science ( CA route) fields.

** A minimum of a level 5 in Accounting if you are applying for B Com Accounting
** Applications must be for full-time studies towards an academic degree at an accredited South African university.
** All applicants invited to attend an interview must be willing to undergo psychometric testing.

All individuals writing matric before 2007 must meet the following criteria :
** A minimum of a D symbol for English First Language HG or a C symbol for English Second Language HG in Grade 12. (The majority of academic textbooks used at university are imported from overseas and are thus published in English).
** A minimum of an A symbol for Mathematics HG and a B symbol for Physical Science HG in Grade 12 if you are applying for a bursary in one of the engineering or science fields.

** A minimum of a C symbol for Accounting HG in Grade 12 if you are applying for B Com Accounting.
** If you are already studying towards the degree course for which you are applying for a bursary, you must have passed all courses for which you have registered at the university for the study period already completed.

** Applications must be for full-time studies towards an academic degree at an accredited South African university. No bursaries are awarded for studies at a university of technology or college.
** Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid ID number.
** All applicants invited to attend an interview must be willing to undergo psychometric testing.

Note :
** Any bursary awarded is subject to the condition that the candidate’s end of year results in Grade 12 (if currently in matric) or end of year results at university (if currently studying at university) do not differ substantially from the results presented during the application process.

** Sasol reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a Sasol bursary if the candidate performs substantially weaker academically than the academic performance presented during the application process.
** Candidates applying for the 2018 Undergraduate and Postgraduate bursaries must apply by 30 April 2017.

Selection Process :
How does the selection process work?
** Undergraduate, University of Technology and Postgraduate applications should be submitted to Sasol by no later than 30 April 2017, for the 2018 academic year.
** Applications should be submitted online. For more info go to the How do I Apply page

** Applicants, who do not have internet access or access to an internet cafe in their area, may contact our Sasol Bursary Application Helpline at 086 010 6235 for support.
** All applicants short-listed to attend an interview will be notified by the end of May 2017. Notification is done telephonically as well as via written correspondence.

** Selection interviews usually take place during the June/July public school holidays each year. Applicants will be assessed by means of a structured panel interview as well as psychometric tests and therefore it will be required of them to stay over in Secunda for one night.

** Applicants will be reimbursed for travel expenses to attend the selection day up to a maximum amount, as predetermined by Sasol.
** The outcome of the selection event will be communicated to applicants by the end-of August. Please note that no correspondence in this regard will be entered into prior to this date.

** Successful candidates will be provided with comprehensive documentation relating to the Sasol Bursary Programme, as well as a written contract and other documentation for completion.
** Bursaries are awarded for commencement in the following academic year and no payments are made in respect of studies already completed.

What does a Sasol bursary include?
The Sasol bursary is a comprehensive bursary which includes the following :
** 100% of the prescribed university tuition fees, registration fees and exam fees.
** An amount equal to the average rate for accommodation in a single room at a university residence at the university at which the Sasol bursar is studying. This rate is determined by Sasol in conjunction with the university.

** An amount for meals based on three meals per day, as determined by the university.
** An amount of approximately R12 000,00 per annum, towards book and pocket money

Note :
** Prescribed tuition fees, registration fees and exam fees are paid directly to the university.
** Students will be required to pay for any repeat subjects.
** Monies for accommodation are paid directly to the university if the student is staying in university-administered accommodation.

** In cases where the student elects to stay in non-university administered accommodation, monies in lieu of accommodation and meals will be paid directly to the individual. In such instances, the amounts will be limited to that prescribed in points 2 and 3 above.

** Book and pocket money will be paid directly to the individual.
** Payments in respect of the above are made twice a year. The first payment is made at the beginning of the first semester, and the second payment is made at the beginning of the second semester.

** Full details of the payment process and the requirements which must be met are communicated to successful applicants once a bursary has been awarded.
** Successful applicants will be bound contractually to work at Sasol after graduation for a period equal to the tenure of the bursary.
