Brief Description :
** The Wits School of Education is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate at Lecturer level in the Division of Science Education to contribute the teacher education, postgraduate programmes and research activities.

** Area of expertise must be in the Life Sciences generally, theories of science education and knowledge of pedagogy for teaching science A working knowledge and experience of the South African school system will be an advantage, as well as evidence of organizational ability and willingness to work in a team.

The successful candidate will play the following roles :
** Participating in teams which design, coordinate and present courses for undergraduate, post-graduate and in-service students; research supervision and participation in research activities.

Qualifications and experience :
The successful applicants must meet the following criteria to be appointed :
Lecturer :
** PhD in Life Science or related field
** Capacity to supervise at the tertiary level
** Evidence of an emerging research profile (a publication record would be an advantage)
** A track record of competent teaching in the Life Sciences at school and/or in higher education

** Experience in teaching Natural Science at school level with elementary aspects of physics and/or chemistry would be an added advantage.
** Experience in teacher education is desirable
** A track record in teaching and administratively managing large classes
** Good people skills and ability to work in a team
** Good computer literacy skills

Remuneration :
** dependent on qualifications and experience
