Oprah Winfrey Educational Psychologist Vacancy

** The Academy is seeking to appoint an Educational Psychologist to provide professional services to students.

** The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, have at least 3 years experience, and be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team.

** Experience in working with adolescents and an ability to engage sensitively with issues of diversity would be an advantage.

Qualifications, Experience & Attributes

** Master in Psychology
** Registration with the HPCSA
** An up to date CPD Portfolio
** Minimum of 3 years working with adolescents
** Experience as a Senior Psychologist
** Experience working within a school system
** Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
** Experience in working with vulnerable children
** Experience in working with groups
** Proficiency in 2 additional South African languages

Main Responsibilities

** Work as a Psychologist within the Psychology Department, Wellness Team and rest of Academy
** Collaborate with all departments at the Academy
** Promote the holistic wellbeing and development of all students, academically, psychologically and socially
** Assist students in managing the transition between home and school
** Complete specific functions in the (student) recruitment process
** Assist in preparing students for tertiary studies
** Work according to the strategic vision of the Academy

Identified Competencies

Technical :
** Sound understanding and knowledge of girls of school going age
** Strong evidence based counselling and psychotherapeutic skills
** Trauma informed understanding
** Proficiency in administration, scoring and interpretation of psychometric instruments
** Understanding the challenges facing girls of today and the implications of this for a school such as OWLAG
** Ethical and professional orientation at all times

Generic :
** A sound ability to work within a computerised administrative environment – intermediate proficiency in MS Word, PPT, Excel, Internet and Google
** Good organisational skills, time management and strong administrative skills
** Sound communication skills
** Attention to detail necessary as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks

Personal Attributes :
** A willingness to learn and improve on technical skills (e.g. Smartboard, and Google)
** Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to develop a quick rapport with individuals and be perceived as trustworthy
