Results of the Municipal By-Elections
** During the by-elections contested yesterday in the Western Cape, the Democratic Alliance (DA) retained both seats that they won during the 2016 Municipal Elections.

New Councillors
The new councillors for the DA are :
Jean Reginald Orban in Ward 13 in the Overstrand Municipality – WC032 :
** The party retained the seat it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections, however with a reduced margin of 95.20% of the votes cast compared to 96.75% in the 2016 Municipal Elections.
** Voter turnout yesterday was 47.44%.
Derick Ernest Welgemoed in Ward 2 in the Beaufort West Municipality – WC053 :
** The party retained the seat it won in the 2016 Municipal Elections, however with a slightly reduced margin of 60.23% of the votes cast compared to 66.43% in the 2016 Municipal Elections.
** Voter turnout yesterday was 53.56%

Ward 13 in WC032 :
** Overstrand with 4 073 registered voters which became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. Registration and voting will take place at the following stations:
