UP Online Registration

UP registrations for the 2019 academic year are fully online. Online registration is available from 3 January 2019 for returning students (accessible via the UP Student Centre) and from 9 January 2019 for new students.

Online Registration Guidelines

** To all new and conditionally accepted students, parents and guardians—welcome to the University of Pretoria!

Step – 1 :
** Log in to UP Student Portal, click on the UP Student Centre link and check for holds in the right column of the student centre.
** If there are any holds, students will not be able to register.

Step – 2 :
** First-year students, who are not sure about their curriculum, need to register for core modules only.

** Elective modules can be added after attending the orientation programme and curriculum advice.
** First years with fixed curricula can register their modules as they appear on the registration page.

** Current students are to register fully online from 3 January 2019.
** There is no fixed registration schedule for these students.

Student Access Cards

** Students need to register first before they can be issued with a student card.
** The first year students of 2019 need to have their student cards issued by 26 January 2019.

** The senior student with a student card do not need to have their card replaced, online registration will activate their card to start working.
** Only students with valid student cards will be able to enter UP campuses.

** our student card will be issued at the registration centre Hillcrest Campus hall 4.
** Present your proof of registration in order to obtain a student card.

** This proof of registration document is emailed to you upon registration and canalso be accessed on the UP Portal (UP Student Centre).
** The Cards Division will accept an electronic version on your smart phone, tablet or laptop.
** A student card will not be issued without proof of identification (ID, passport or driver’s licence).

** The first student card is issued free of charge. In the event of loss or damage, you may apply for a duplicate card at the Student Service Centre at the applicable fee.
** Lost, stolen or damaged student cards will not be issued without proof of identification (ID, passport or driver’s licence).

** Student cards provide access to the campus and various computer facilities and buildings on campus.
** Keep your student card with you at all times. The student card must be presented upon request and during examinations and tests.

New Students

** Online registration is available from 9 January 2019.

** For assistance with online registration, please visit the Hillcrest Campus from 10 to 31 January 2019. Gates will be open from 08:00 to 15:30.

** Hillcrest Campus is a cashless venue, but you can pay by credit card, debit card, cheque card or at the bank at least five working days before you arrive for registration. Please bring along your proof of payment.

** In case of difficulties, contact the online registration helpdesk on +27 (0) 12 420 5347, or email us at registration AT up.ac.za.
** All first year students need to collect their student access card at Hillcrest Campus before or on 26 January 2019.

Returning Students

** Online registration is available from 3 January 2019.
** For assistance with online registration, please visit the Hillcrest Campus from 10 to 31 January 2019. Gates will be open from 08:00 to 15:30.

** Hillcrest Campus is a cashless venue, but you can pay by credit card, debit card, cheque card or at the bank at least five working days before you arrive. Please bring along your proof of payment.

** In case of difficulties, contact the online registration helpdesk on +27 (0) 12 420 5347, or email us at registration AT up.ac.za.

International Students

** International students need to comply with immigration requirements. For assistance and enquiries in this regard, please email isd AT up.ac.za.

** In case of difficulties, contact the online registration helpdesk on +27 (0) 12 420 5347, or email us at registration AT up.ac.za.

** Assisted online registration will be available at the Hillcrest Campus from 10 to 31 January 2019. Gates will be open from 08:00 to 15:30.
** Hillcrest Campus is a cashless venue, it may take up to seven working days for payments made outside of South Africa to reflect in UP’s account.

** Please pay in advance and bring along your proof of payment.
** All first year students need to collect their student access card at Hillcrest Campus before or on 26 January 2019.
