President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the Special 350 COVID-19 Grant, by a further three months. SASSA has processed in excess of 9,6 million applications each month from May 2020 to January 2021 and has paid more than 6,5 million grants per month. The total amount spent on this grant to date has exceeded R16 billion.

Instructions

The following should be noted about this grant
** There is no need to go to a SASSA office; all SRD processes are done online. Any amendments on your application can be made at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/

** Those persons already who have received this grant and are in the system, need not re-apply
** All clients who have been paid through the post office should get bank accounts, and upload those details on the system

** Every application will be validated monthly as it has been the case, and if approved will be paid. All applications will be considered monthly, as it has been the case

** Clients whose applications for the Special 350 Covid-19 SRD Grant were declined, can lodge an appeal for review on the SASSA COVID-19 portal: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/ Declined applicants who already lodged appeals need not re-apply nor re-appeal.

SASSA reassures all citizens who had their Special COVID Grant of 350 approved but not yet paid by end January will still be paid through the existing payment channels, namely the South African Post Office, direct deposits into bank accounts or money transfers to cell phones, as requested by the approved applicants.

FAQ On SASSA Covid-19 Grant

1. How are payments for this grant going to be done?
Payment shall be done through direct deposit into your own Bank Account or Through cash transfer option which goes to the cell phone and can be cashed at the bank ATM of your choice.

Applicants who do not have a bank account will be able to select a bank of their choice between the following 4 banks to receive a cash transfer payment
*ABSA
*FNB
*NEDBANK
*STANDARD BANK

Where no choice is made as to how to receive the payment, SASSA will send the payment through the Post Office. All asylum seekers and special permit holders will be paid through the post office, where a personal appearance, with the revant documents will be required to prove identity before payment is affected.

2. Can one use another person’s cell phone number to make an application?
Yes, applications will mainly be processed on the Identity number of the applicant. The cell phone number provided will be the one to which messages are sent for that applicant. The cellphone number to receive money must have been registered in the names of the applicant.

    Hey I need some assistance I applied last year may the declined my application then I appealed then this year February I received a payment of R350 ever since that 1 payment I never received any payment after that I went in March to post office on my status it shows approved but didn’t receive a date so after that I was rob of phone so I lost SIM in the process witch was registered on my lated mother’s name so I can’t go and do a SIM swap on it so can use plse assets me in this matter can’t even open a new application because the phone number what do I do or who must I go see cause it can help me alot I don’t have a job for 2years now
