How To Apply For Admission

Online Registration :
** Steps to follow before you can register (This information is for those first-time registering undergraduate students who have been accepted into a programme of study at DUT)

Undergraduate Students :
You must have :
** Made an application through the CAO and paid the application fee
** Been accepted into the academic programme you have applied for

** Met the DUT’s minimum admission requirements (view requirements)
** Filled in the Indemnity Form Download – if you are under age (younger than 18 years of age) this form must be filled in and signed by your parent/guardian.

** Filled in the Surety Form Download – which must be completed by the individual responsible for the payment of all your fees, in compliance with the National Credit Act. The signature of the surety must be verified and stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths.

Documents to be produced :
** Original Senior Certificate or Statement of Results
** Original I.D. document

** If you are coming from another university – you must produce an original academic record / diploma / degree and certificate of conduct. If you require exemption of credits you must obtain an Application for Exemption form from the relevant Faculty Office

** Indemnity and Surety Form Download Indemnity Form / Download Suretyship Form
** Study Permit (international students)
** Passport (international students)
** SAQA Evaluation (where relevant)

First Instalment (non-residence students) :
The following first instalment is compulsory on the day of registration :
Annual students (Tuition only) :
** R3 420. This can be paid directly into the DUT Bank Account – you must use your student number as the reference (download bank details & deposit slip)
Semester students (Tuition only):
** R2 100. This can be paid directly into the DUT Bank Account – you must use your student number as the reference (download bank details & deposit slip)

2017 First Instalment (residence students) :
The following first instalment is compulsory on the day of registration :
Annual students (tuition plus residence) :
** R6 840. This can be paid directly into the DUT Bank Account – you must use your student number as the reference (download bank details & deposit slip)
Semester students (tuition plus residence) :
** R4 200. This can be paid directly into the DUT Bank Account – you must use your student number as the reference (download bank details & deposit slip)

Please note:
1. NSFAS students are required to pay their family contributions, if any, on registration as their first instalment. If the family contribution exceeds the above-mentioned amounts, the difference must be paid according to the Durban University of Technologies’ fee instalment plan.

2. In the event of the fees costing less than the first instalment requested by the University, the lesser amount will be payable on registration.

Registration Dates :
** Register on the day and in the venue advertised on the registration timetable.
** N.B. If you do not do this your place in the programme may be lost.

To help you get the most out of the information provided, here are a few key points you should bear in mind :
** Identify the course you wish to study. Programmes offered can be found in the Department Handbooks.
** The minimum entrance requirements for admission to the DUT for a South African applicant is a Senior Certificate or a recognized equivalent qualification.
** Over and above the minimum entrance requirements, each department also sets specific entrance requirements.

With effect from 1 January 2009 the following are the entrance requirements :
** a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training provided that a minimum of 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects must be passed.

These four subjects must :
** include English with an achievement rating of 3 or better;
** not exceed 2 official languages; and

have an achievement rating of 3 or better, in accordance with the NSC levels of achievement below :
** International applicants are required to check the International Brochure for detailed information on the admission process.
** Apply online at the Central Applications Office (CAO). (A prospective student who wishes to study at the DUT must apply via the CAO.)

    I would like to know if are there any space left for Hospitality Management,because I applied for it last year and it was too late so I had to wait and see if there will be any space left and applied for a late application
