Scarce Skills Doctoral Scholarships for 2017 :

** The National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) are pleased to announce the provisional Scarce Skills Development Fund (SSDF) Doctoral Scholarship awards for 2017.

** The Department of Higher Education and Training commits grant funds from the National Skills Fund towards the Scarce Skills Development Fund Programme that supports students and postdoctoral research fellows at South African higher education institutions and science councils.

** Scarce Skills Doctoral awards have been made according to the strategic objectives of the Scarce Skills Doctoral funding instrument, the Ministerial Directives on equity targets and the available budget.
** The list of successful applications for the Scarce Skills Doctoral scholarships are listed in the table that follows.

Please Note :
** If your name appears in the table, you have been awarded a scholarship for 2017.
** The NRF will forward award letters to successful candidates in March 2017.
** If your name does not appear in the table, you have not been awarded a scholarship for 2017.

** Feedback to unsuccessful candidates will only be provided between January and March in 2017 due to processing of funding outcomes for various funding instruments.
** Once you have received the Conditions of grant (CoG), please read through the written agreement carefully before accepting the award.

** All signed and completed documentation must be forwarded to the NRF via your university postgraduate funding office, research office or financial aid office.
** Funds will only be released once the completed documentation has been received by the NRF.

** Please look under Documents on this page for the names of successful candidates.
** Awards not taken up by 30 June 2017, will be automatically cancelled, unless otherwise approved by the NRF.
** We congratulate the 2017 new awardees.

Opening Date : Monday, 30 January, 2017
Closing Date : Friday, 31 March, 2017
