Register on myUnisa

** Once you’ve received confirmation of your registration, register on myUnisa, the university’s online student portal.

** Then you won’t need to wait for your study material to be sent to you. You’ll be able to download everything, including your tutorial letters, from myUnisa.

** Registering on myUnisa is one of the first things you need to do once you have your student number.

Schedule your time :
** Get yourself a year planner, identify the times you’re not working at your job (if you have one). Mark the events (social and otherwise) that you know you’ll have to attend.

** Mark your family time, the time for all your other obligations and the time you need for yourself.

** In this way, you’ll start to identify your ideal study times, and the instances where, perhaps, you need to sacrifice a little social time to get in those extra study hours.

Remember: semester modules require between 6 and 8 hours per week, and year modules between 4 and 6 hours per week.

Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees):
20 August – 27 September 2019

Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas:
20 August – 27 September 2019

Master’s & doctoral qualifications:
10 September – 8 November 2019

** Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of modules and NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
** Each qualification page provides guidelines on how to do this successfully.

** It is important to assess the full cost of your studies before confirming your modules for registration.

** If you’re registering via the web or the self-help terminals at a regional centre, you can choose your modules and calculate your fees during that process.

** If you’re registering by post or fax, you should calculate your fees and minimum payments before you register. Either way, please work through this section carefully to ensure that you can successfully complete the registration process.

Complete & Submit Registration

** Successful applicants and re-registering students must register to study through Unisa in 2019.

Applicants : (new applicants & Unisa students who applied for admission to a new qualification)
** Can only begin the registration process if they have received confirmation from Unisa that their application for admission has been accepted.

Re-registering students :
** Can register for the 2019 academic year during the relevant registration period once they have received their registration details from Unisa.
** Should you wish to change to an alternative qualification, please apply for the alternative qualification during the next application period.

Check that you are ready to complete & submit your registration :
** You have selected the modules for which I want to register based on the study time I have available and the number of modules I need to pass per year / over 2 consecutive semesters.
** You have calculated my study fees, including miscellaneous fees, additional study material fees and the cost of my prescribed books.

** You have written down the exam and other registration codes I need to complete my registration.
** You have read Unisa’s Student Rules.

Pay Your Study Fees

** Once you have completed and submitted your registration form, you must pay the fees that you calculated in previous step.
** All fees must be paid into the correct bank account with the correct reference number in order for the university to process your registration before the relevant closing date.
** For your convenience, we provide a variety of different payment methods.

** In the case of electronic transfers, please ensure that the reference field is completed correctly.
** No cash or cheques will be accepted at any Unisa office.
** Cash can, however, be paid into the university’s bank account at any Standard Bank branch.

After Registration

** It may take a little time before you receive confirmation of your registration. While you’re waiting, it’s a good idea to start preparing for your studies.
** Once you’ve received confirmation of your registration, you need to register on myUnisa, the university’s online student portal where you can download your study material, including your tutorial letters.

Please note :
** All communication sent to you after the initial study package will be sent electronically to your myLife e-mail account (eg follow-up tutorial letters, examination timetables and results, financial statements).
** You will no longer receive such communication in printed format.
