Note:
Slots opened to be made available over a 12 hour period. Please note that the management of slots opened by DLTC’s are now system driven.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ On NaTIS Pre-Booking Online

1. Where can I book?
You can book at any of the registered DTLC sites in Gauteng by making use of the web application.

2. How many times can I make a pre-booking?
You can only make a pre-booking once for the same licence test. You are not allowed to make the same test application at different testing stations.

3. How do I pay for the pre-booking?
You must pay for your booking at the testing station at which the pre-booking was made. Online payment will be offered in the near future.

4. What about the eye test?
You can do the eye test on the day of the payment at the DLTC or; go to a recognised eye specialist where a certificate will be issued that will be acceptable at the testing station.

5. How long do I have to pay?
The payment must be made within 3 days from making the pre-booking. This is to prevent the slot from being forfeited and allocated to another applicant. It is only a reservation of your booking until it is paid within the prescribed period to make the booking confirmed.

1. I have been up and down to renew my drivers license and I couldn’t even get a slots online. So, I went to office told to book online and I showed them the SMS and all that I can’t get a slots I even drove as far as from Gauteng at Eastrand to Pretoria Hammanskraal for my renewal and system is offline. Still I am trying for a slots but 0 available up to so far as I wait for a slots Tsakane yesterday, it was so empty but they told me they can assist me as I didn’t book online as they proceed with their Tick-Tok springs was told they won’t even if I can wait they can’t.

2. My license is expired on December 2021 and before it expires, I made online booking for a PDP when I went back for my finger prints I was told they didn’t come because, I punched wrong reference. When I pay at the ATM, I had to pay again. Now I can’t find my results because NATIS have a problem in their system and I have to rebook online again and when I try to book online again I don’t get a slot.

3. I need to renew my license card and I have tried doing so on NATIS but I cannot remember my password when logging in. I clicked on forgot password and typed my email and was informed that I will get an email on what to do next. I have been doing this for a few days now and nothing. No email has come through. Please can someone assist me with getting back my password so, I can book my online licence card renewal.

4. Useless system, shows that I am not known to the system when trying to register. Worst of all trying to phone the customer care number for assistance. Waited patiently for 34 minutes and then reached caller number 2, then the caller time increased with another 10 minutes. Thanks for wasting 44 minutes of my life.

    I commend this Department and thank the helpful, courteous people who attended to me today.
    I booked my appointment for Drivers License Renewal without a hitch. The system worked perfectly and was informative.
    I went for my appointment this morning arriving 30 minutes earlier and left their premises 5 minutes after my appointment time...the whole process took 35 minutes!
    This has been simply the best experience ever. It generates hope that things in S.A. CAN change and in fact HAVE changed in this section. What a pleasure! THANK YOU DRIVERS LICENSING DEPARTMENT AND YOUR OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES IN KORSTEN GQEBERHA. YOU ARE APPRECIATED AND VALUED.

    Good day. I cannot get hold of Wadeville Licence Department as I have renewed my Drivers licence card and when I sms 33214, I get the message "Dear Applicant, please contact your center for details regarding your card".

    Isn't it a shame? Most of the people now complaining are either those that voted ANC in 1994, or their children / grand children. Either way, the warnings were ignored and now everything that was said to happen, is happening and all of us have to suffer due to the goverment's incompetence. The South African Railways - that used to be the biggest employment provder in the country - has fallen. SAA has fallen. Escom is falling. RWB is showing signs of falling.... The government used to have like 24 ministers and 1 State President. Now the total gevernment exists of well over 200 so-called ministers and whatever else, earning salaries unheard of. And we, the peoeple ask why? A simple calculation will give you the correct answer, if you know how to calculate. Did you know that we are the only country in the world that employs people in our cabinet with criminaly records? When will the the real South Africans ever learn? Look at this situation here. Something as small as a license renewal is now almost unobtainable. Look at the complains of the people. And nowhere have I seen any proper, constructive, executable solutions on any of the complains. Isn't that a sign that we, the people that pays the salaries of the government officials, should take back what belongs to us? It is evident that the government doesn't listen to the cries of the people? Look at the cycle. Your license has an expiery date. They know it.They also know that if you don't renew it, you'll be fined. If not fined then you'll have to pay a bribe, but somehow you will have to pay. Be it once or twice or even more more time while trying to register, you'll pay either way. Instead of using the funds what it is allocated for, it's been pocketed by someone - hence no money for rendering a service. Meantime, back at the ranch, people losses jobs for various reasons, and being unable to drive is one of them. Wether dring yourself to work, or you being a driver for a company with an invalid drivers license, you loose your job. Yet, you are still trying to do the right thing by paying your way and hope to get that chance / gap / opening to renew your license - which according to some of the above statement, has already taken them years to do so, without success. Now you become poorer, and poorer until you have no money left. So my fellow South Africans - as our President always says - what are you prepared to do about it? If you say we can't do anything, you only lie to yourself. There is only two ways in this life, ie. right and wrong. If something is "almost" fixed, it's still not fixed. If something is "partially usable" it is not usable for the original intend, which means it is still not usiable. Life is black and white. There is no grey area inbetween. And if in your life that is the case, then don't complain because you have allowed it. Plain and simple. Yes or No - no maybe's inbetween. Did you get any marks for an answer in your exam when writing your drivers lisence test? NO. And the reason is simple. It is not the correct answer. Why should we the be satisfied with "maybe" answers, or "reay" areas, or "almost" replies? Ask yourself the question, when paying for something, is there anything wrong with your money? Is is maybe faded, or torn, or a serial number missing or any flaw with it? No? Then why on this earth would or should we be satisfied with this quality of service? We, the public didn't ask for it. Why should we suffer because of its failures? We were never consulted in changes, then why should we pay for it and not complain when the system fails us? I don't know about you, but I have had enough of loadshedding, poor waste removal services (because we only have 3 trucks or we don't have money for diesel)- I'm fed up with incompetence in total. I can think of numerous ways in assiting the govenment - since they have already messed up everything - to further assisting them in demolishing everything once and for all, and start all over again. That may as well create jobs and who knows, maybe then they'll get it right.

    What is the essence of the online booking, because even after you book successfully and you get to the center they still tell you that you should join a lousy que. This system is a failure. I booked and got to Xavier junction, one hour before my appointment, I was shocked to be told that the booking means nothing that I should join the que and would be helped when it's my turn on the que 🙄🙄🙄

    There are hardly any test stations open in the Parys and the ones that are, close instantly when there is loadshedding or power failures. This means that it is almost impossible to get a driver’s license renewed. Surely this is not practical ito service delivery? Please develop a way (like all of us!) that work can continue despite loadshedding and open your stations that closed due to Covid. I’m sure that not all your staff passed away?!

  • Please book at RTMC sites as well. The ECO RTMC is the new site in Centurion. It is close to the old station, but in ECOPARK. There are over 7000 slots available. The other RTMC sites are the same.

    Why are the system so unreliable in Brakpan because you do have a booking for a specific date and time but when you get there they are offline? Like my booking was for the 6th of April 2022 and they were offline. I had to go back on 7th of April and they were still offline, so I did go back on the 9 the off April 2022 and they were still offline.   • Yhoo marah why this system is so complicated. After 3 months trying to book for my driver license renewal final yesterday iwent to Edenval license department. The administrator could not help me chasing me away it was not the first time i go the for information running around with this reffence number that does not work at all. As i was passing a Security guard a lady ask me whats the problem i told her, she advice me to check the Slot 10 minutes before 12 and 10 minutes before 17:00 .she told me to keep the time idid at 12 it fails and idid again at 10 minutes before 17 :00 that when i got the slot when i open the was 115 slot available for Edenvale i got mine .   • My licence expired last year Sept. System wasn't not accepting mi ID number for the whole year. It only accepted it this year, however there were no slots in all the nearby areas in GP. Sowewhere towards end Feb system was fine. Challenge now is I have been waiting for a reference confirming that I booked, I have not received it. Now whose fault is it?     I have tried to book online for hours now. Tried the 'help' line no answer. Tried korsten local traffic centre in PE no answer to call. When I tried to renew in PE 2020 I was sent to humansdorp. Due to some unknows cause they could not read my fingerprint. I paid 300+ for temporary license and was told they need to send info to Bisho to get permission to get license without fingerprint. Every time I phoned they told me I will wait a long time. Now 2022 I asked them to cancell the process and let me try in PE. And so I got to online booking and no walk-ins accepted at renewal of drivers license traffic departments in PE. Every government department is chaos. Then a minister makes a declaration that middle of April is last day to register for long expired driver's licenses. The ministers are so out of touch with their employees and the citizens of South Africa that I think if they just walked around and picked random people walking on the road and made them ministers and provincial and municipal leaders you have a better chance of saving the country. No wonder people immegrate. Mostly top class professional people who have skills and and the honesty so lacking in our government.

  • On the 08th March i finally suceeded in get a REf no even though i could not select some Testind Stations that were my first and second preference.

    one line at Bedfordview for 17/3/22
    very rude, no assistance, completed on line form, had to fill in their green form.
    no one checked if the form i had was correct, just told to sit
    my eye test from the optometrist is 6 months at the end march, told expired.
    Did their eyes test, the E started of so small going to a pin prick, so they failed me, so 6 months ago i could see now i'm blind.
    Was told by examiner to go back to optometrist so thats what i'll do
    This a concern ,they were just darn right rude to everyone an authoriative attitude, because they work for the government. They forget the tax payers there yesterday pay their salaries.

    I made a booking to renew my drivers license because the due date is now 31/03/2022 due to Covid. I went to the Traffic Dept. in PE 3 times and was messed around every time so I tried to phone for months on end - no answer. When I eventually got through I was told to apply online. I did this and I am still waiting for a date to go in. How on earth must a person know when to go if they don't let you know? I have wasted so much time on this and have lost so many hours at work because of this. Please let me know when I must come in for the renewal!

    That means that un renewed licences will now have to pay R90 for a temporary licence.

    Mbalula, you need to resign.
    Better still Ramaphosa should be weeding out these slackers.

    We need to collectively express that we're not accepting this undemocratic decision for not extending the date for the 1000s of folk who have expired licences.

I clicked on forgot password and typed my email and was informed that I will get an email on what to do next. I've been doing this for a few days now and nothing. No email has come through.     Years back when a news reporter was robbed live on TV we knew then that this system is not going to work because he had to fly down to us in PE just to get temporary license and new card because online could only give him a date in 4 months time. Now the public has to pay for temporary that wpuld not even be necessary had they done more research and pilot this and study and s fix any glitches that come up before rolling it Nationally. No training was provided for staff on how it works even now it's beem changed |ans nobody has answers on how to fix it or when it will be fixed. 2 days we had no walkin imagine the revenue the anxious people who really want to get the license and they couldn't. Some are suspended from work coz the license is expired it's painful tl watch and you can do nothing to help

  • Surely you cannot be serious! Apathetic! Your website does NOT work. 404 error or blank page! The NATIS website is non-existent - full stop. Can't help but wonder what other fee is going to spring up since we are unable to book anywhere! Stop this ridiculous asinine behaviour and get your system up and running properly, it's the least you can do.

  • Useless system, shows that I am not known to the system when trying to register. Worst of all trying to phone the customer care number for assistance. Was caller number 6 with 34 minutes waiting time. Waited patiently for 34 minutes and then reached caller number 2, then the caller time increased with another 10 minutes. Thanks for wasting 44 minutes of my life.

    • Apparently there is a massive backlog for drivers license card productions, as a result of the only machine in the country able to produce them breaking. I've been waiting since November 2021 and still have not heard anything yet. However, their dev team has revamped the online portal and you can now login/register your profile and find the status of your card renewal under your dashboard.

      My only concern is that there is no information explaining what the different statuses mean. This would be a much appreciated feature to add.

    Disappointed I had no choice of selecting a day, only a time. Made an appointment at Centurion.

    Went to Centurion on the appointed day and 1 hour before the time.

    Then waited in a queue for 3 hours (being a pensioner this wasn't easy), only to be told on reaching the end of the queue that I had to complete form DL1. Why was I not informed of this by NaTIS? and why is this form not made available on-line on the NaTIS site.

    My licence expired on the 2/10/2021 and I've been trying to get a slot in Florida/Roodepoort 0 slots all the time and I've decided to walk in, I was approached if I'm registered if not I can be assisted and need to pay R580 cash, I told that guy, I'm the citizen of this country and I'm not prepared to pay incentive to the person who is employed to do his job, he said I will wait for 3months..I want to know why you making things difficult for us ? Online slots not loaded and you must pay extra fees as if they doing you a favor ..Minister need to monitor the system as its not for the interest of the community its for the employees to make extra income for themselves,I refused to be defrauded.

    Try every evening at about 8pm. Slots are released after 8pm on a daily basis. Not sure in which City/Province you are, but I tried today - there were no slots for PE. Tried this evening and only three slots available in PE in December 2021 - so lucky me. ;-))
